Call for Nominations of WACC Officers

It is the responsibility of the WACC Board to elect WACC Officers.WACC elects Officers to serve for a three-year term.The Officers’ terms of office are renewable, once, with the exception of the position of Treasurer which is renewable twice.
The positions of President and Vice-president will each be vacant at the conclusion of the Board meeting to be held in October 2008.The incumbents, having served two terms each, are not eligible for re-election.
The positions of Secretary and Treasurer also become vacant.The incumbent Secretary and Treasurer have served only one term each and may be nominated to continue to serve in these offices.
This is a call for nominations for any/all of the WACC Officer positions.
Regions are invited to submit names of candidates for these positions to the General Secretary no later than August 31st, 2008.Nominees need not be from the nominating Region. Nominations should indicate the nominee’s willingness to serve and should also provide information as to the qualifications of the nominee for the particular office.Although it is recommended that nominations be submitted via the Regions, nominations may be made by any member, and nominations will also be open to the Board during its meeting in Cape Town, October 2008.
A Nominations Committee, convened by Piet Halma (currently Vice-president), and consisting of one Director from each Region (8 in total) will review the nominations received as of August 31st, and prepare a list of nominations for the Board meeting of October 8th, 2008, in Cape Town, South Africa.
President and Treasurer
The President and Treasurer are “global” members of the Board and need not be a Regional director serving on the Board during and post-October.
The President, in particular, and all Officers in general, should meet the following criteria:
- must be a Corporate or Personal Member of WACC
- be familiar with and committed to the WACC and its Christian Principles of Communication
- have an active involvement in the international ecumenical movement
- be familiar with organizational structures and dynamics.Skilled in conducting meetings, particularly with participants from diverse cultural backgrounds
- be willing to volunteer 3-4 weeks per year to WACC leadership
- have significant experience in communication, and have a general grounding in Christian theology
The Vice-president and Secretary
Nominations for these two positions MUST be candidates from among the membership of the Board (that is, they must be a Regional director serving on the Board during and post-October 2008).
