Madagascar: the will for change

Coming from the four corners of the Capital City, hundred of thousands of people silently gathered on the Antananarivo Square. As they have been doing from the past few weeks they have gathered to show their support for the presidential candidate Mar Ravalomanana.

Madagascar

The gathering of these peaceful 'revolutionaries' has been marked by the chanting of religious songs, which have preceded the religious services prior to the discourses of political leaders. Where is this religious fervour coming from? What is the role played by the Catholic, Reformed, Lutheran and Anglican Churches in the current crisis and in the launching to power of Ravalomanana?

After all on the day when Marc Ravalomanana was sworn into office didn't a daily lay newspaper published in its front page a picture of the new President guarded by one representative of each Church?
Isn't Marc Ravalomanana himself one of these model Christians who forces his workers at Tiko enterprises to attend religious services? and What do all those Christians who have voted for the former President Didier Ratsiraka think?
