Ownership of mainstream media in Costa Rica is, like in the majority of countries, concentrated in a handful of conglomerates close linked to transnational corporations. In this media landscape some sectors of the population such as the politically, economically and socially marginalised sectors are absent from the news agenda. The project is implemented by the Lutheran Church of Costa Rica (ILCO), the result of an initiative by Lutherans and people of other denominations interested in developing an alternative ecclesiastical project. The project will launch a weekly programme and to provide community members of the church‟s constituencies with basic radio training for them to speak with their own voices on matters that concern their lives and the development of their community.
