Agape Community Service (ACS), Myanmar
€ 2,050 Ref. 1559
Kalay-Kabaw valley is one of the highest risk areas of HIV transmission in Myanmar. Infection is accompanied by stigma and discrimination against the infected and the affected. Agape Community Services has designed this project to be implemented in 30 communities in the area with a total population of almost 10,000 people. The project seeks to equip people living with HIV and AIDS with communication skills to combat stigma. It will undertake awareness campaigns in 30 communities. The project is expected to result in a reduction of stigma and a reciprocal increase in the participation of people living with HIV and AIDS in community life. Agape Community Services was created in 2005 as a response to the heightened spread of HIV in Kalamyo.
