On With The New

The Assembly took place at the John Knox Centre following a seminar on 1 March 2002 ‘Virtual realities in Europe: Challenges for Christian communicators’. Talks were given by Cees J. Hamelink of the Free University of Amsterdam and Isabelle Graesslé of the Protestant Church of Geneva. There was also a panel of practitioners and a showing of the film Chico, which received the John Templeton European Film Award for 2001.

On with the new!

WACC Europe bid farewell to Murri Selle during its recent Assembly, held 2 March 2002 in Geneva. Having worked for the Region since 1975, during which time she also served as Secretary of the global WACC (1990-93), Murri’s retirement was marked by tears, laughter and many warm speeches.

The Assembly elected Gianna Urizio (Italy) as its new Chairperson, Ruha Rajamäki (Finland) as Vice-Chairperson, Piet Halma (The Netherlands) as Secretary, and re-elected Daniel Wettstein (Switzerland) as Treasurer. WACC European regional representatives at CentCom will be Gianna Urizio, Piet Halma, and Maggie Roux (United Kingdom).

At a short meeting of the new Steering Committee, members discussed ways of renewing their region, focusing in particular on working more closely with church communication partners and revitalising membership. These will be topics for discussion at the next meeting of the Steering Committee 15-17 November 2002 in London.
