WACC member wins international journalism award Print E-mail

Andrés Cañizalez, a WACC member and former Treasurer of WACC Latin America,  has won the Titus Brandsma Award which honours journalists, publishers, professors of communication, publications or institutes who have suffered threats or persecution because of their engagement in the media on behalf of an important human or Christian issue.

The award will be conferred by International Catholic Union of the Press (UCIP) at its World Congress to be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in September 2010.

The award also recognises initiatives for promoting dialogue and human dignity through the media. It is instituted in memory of Blessed Titus Brandsma, a Dutch Carmelite who was a journalist.

The three partners making the award are the Dutch Carmelites, the Dutch Bishops’ Conference and UCIP. The award consists of a certificate and a monetary award of Euro 1,500 (one thousand five hundred).

UCIP awards International Journalism and Media Awards to outstanding media professionals, publications and institutions worldwide and recognize their exemplary contributions. (See details here...)
